What makes college counsling at BASIS so special? Joining us to share his insights is Robert (Bob) Bowley, currently the College Counselor at BASIS Chandler. This year, Mr. Bowley has an advisee attending Oxford in the fall, as well as students with acceptances to California Institute of Technology, Brown University, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, and UCLA, among others.
Robert (Bob) Bowley joined BASIS Chandler for its inaugural year in 2011. He first served as the Honors Language teacher as well as teaching one group of very enthusiastic 5th graders before moving into the College Counselor position. He is thrilled to work with BASIS Chandler students to inspire them to reach for their dreams. Prior to joining BASIS Chandler, Mr. Bowley lived and worked in Japan for 19 years. While there, he worked as an English teacher at a private school where he had the privilege to serve as head of the English Department for 4 years. After 15 years as a teacher, Mr. Bowley accepted a position as National Manager for a growing group of schools around Japan where he was able to increase the student enrollment more than 500% over the course of two years. Mr. Bowley received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Syracuse University and did his Master’s Degree work in Secondary Education at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. When he is not working, Mr. Bowley enjoys spending time with his children, reading, photography, and traveling to exciting destinations around the world.
